I went to the screening of The Life of a Showgirl album at the cinema (I live in Scotland) and when she described the meaning behind this song, it wasn't of an exact reason, person or place, the song was an amalgamation through most of her friends' highschool/young love experiences. Not to discount the absolutely beautiful story that is Ruin The Friendship because I think, quite honestly, this is my favourite song. It's extraordinarly beautiful, it's moving and I can see a movie play out when I hear it. I think it's a lovely story but it's unfortunately just a story.
