Alastor wearing shoes with deer hoof-shaped soles makes so much sense and also explains how the hunters mistook him for a deer. As he ran, he left tracks that made it seem like he was a deer. It was also just a smart idea on Alastor’s part, given that leaving deer prints instead of human prints would essentially make it seem like no one was with the vicitims- no evidence
